I agreed that euthanasia should be legalised as i believe that some people do not want to suffer in pain but wants leave this world peacefully, without pain. Moreover, euthanasia will still be a choice of the patient's family whether or not to put him/her on any type of the euthanasia; to let him/her continue to suffer or stop suffering. I think that euthanasia is just another aspect of human rights, where everybody should be given the rights to choose how they want to die.

Euthanasia refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. I agree that euthanasia should be legalised as people have the right to choose whether to live or die. Some people suffering from terminal diseases would practise euthanasia so as not to be a financial burden for their families as money is required for them to be on life support; also, some people could not take the excruciating pain of suffering from terminal diseases so they would want to practise euthanasia to remove the pain and agony.

Euthanasia is also commonly referred to "mercy killing" by many as "to be euthanized" means to be put to death painlessly.
I agree with Ji Kai and Emily that euthanasia should be legalized as all living things should have the right to judge whether they themselves should live or die. Many suffer from terminal and incurable diseases such as Wegener's Granulomatosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease and Sarcoidosis. Since these diseases and their chronic conditions they cause will eventually kill their victims, why not let patients decide whether they should be euthanized? They will eventually pass away agonizingly and sadly, their family members will suffer in silence if they were not subjected to consented euthanasia. If animals can be euthanized, then humans too should have the right to make a choice themselves. Also, if they still carry on living their lives miserably with terminal illnesses, they will become a burden: financially, emotionally and physically to those around them. Allowing euthanasia in this society is very much needed by many, and making this happen takes away the pain and misery of the outcomes of the illnesses and their family members will be at ease to know that the patients have passed away in peace. If you were somebody with a terminal illness that gradually destroys your body and motor skills day by day, causing you to only be able to lay in bed, bearing that undescribable pain and that your family members worry that the next day might be your last, why not die or sleep peacefully to death? Therefore i agree that euthanasia should be legalized to all.

I think that euthanasia should be leagalised. Euthanasia means the act of putting to death painlessly. Everyone has to die eventually. Why prolong the pain of the person? They should not be called as cowardice either. It's only their will to end their lives earlier. Death will be a good thing if given fast and painlessly to those who are suffering. Death is an inevitable end to everyone's life.

I feel euthanasia should be legalised as all humans have the rights to decide whether to live or die. Euthanasia are mostly practiced by patients suffering from terminal disease that has caused burden and misery upon their family members. But i not encourage the practice of euthanasia as i feel that death isn't the best way to solve problems and mostly importantly is people will tend to abuse the law through mispractice of euthanasia. Some may find euthanasia the easiest way out of their misery and problems in life. Therefore, i feel that euthanasia should be legalised but only after serious consideration.

With regards to euthanasia, my mind is in quite a state of limbo. It seems so right and yet so wrong. Yes, I suppose it is better off for people who are suffering to die prematurely. However, this raises much questions. To deliver euthanasia, the person requesting for it must be in the right state of mind when they give their consent. If the person were to be comatosed or in too much pain to speak, how are we to receive the persons consent? You may never know whether that person really wishes to die, he might have something he wants to be done before he dies. Thus, it is impossible to suggest that family members should make the decision for him as there might be a slight chance that he wishes otherwise.

Contrary to what Ying Jie wrote about animals being euthanized, be reminded that in such cases, the animals will not be the ones making the decision for themselves rather it is their masters who make that decision when they deem their pets terminally ill. If we euthanize people who are living a life of burden and suffering, its as good as euthanizing babies who have deformities and genetic dieases which ensure that they have a short lifespan. They are, after all, going to be living in a life of burden and suffering.

Another thing that might pose to be a social problem would be the hospitals doing euthanasia. Imagine you have a high fever and you are about to enter a hospital. It feels awkward to be treated in a place where people can come to sentence themselves to death. And to critics who strongly disagree with euthanasia, they might even see doctors as murderers.

The subject of life and death is a very touchy issue. On what accounts can someone decide for a disabled person whether he should live on or die?

I am sure many people will agree that they can choose to die if they wish to, but what of those who are unable to choose?

I agree that euthanasia should be legalised. Everyone controls his or her own life, therefore everyone has the right to decide whether to live or die. For the terminally ill people, nobody else knows just how intense the pain physically or psychologically is. Their family members also had to pay for the highly expensive intensive care hospital bed and had no choice but to watch him screaming in pain everyday. Therefore if euthanasia can end all these pain and agony, why should anyone oppose against it?
However for people who are still able to move about freely and only facing problems in their life, euthanasia should not be a choice for them. They are treating death too lightly without even trying their best to solve the problems. Even after their selfish death, the problems are still left unsolved in the world, expecting their loved ones to solve for him.

Well, I feel that euthanasia should be legalised. Everyone has their own right to control their own life, not anyone else. In addition, we ownself must choose our own life. If we don't want to practice euthanasia, then let it be. Okay, for the terminally ill people, they might have considered euthanasia as they do not want their family members to waste their time on them.

However, on the other hand, for those people who are normal physically and mentally, euthanasia should not be practiced. Why waste their life away just like that? They did not know how much their loved ones cared for them, and even think that it was pressurizing.

Upon looking at Stanley's views, I agree what he had commented. What if they are unable to choose their own life? It is a cruel thinking for others, especially for the patients' loved ones. In the hospitals, if the doctors cannot save the patients, they will usually say "I'm sorry." and used euthanasia.

It's process of life, isn't it?

Euthanasia is a way of dying without pain. I feel that every people have theirs own choice of whether to live of to die. The right to die with dignity is open for debate, however who is the judge to decide how long a person should live?
However, if euthanasia is legalised, the law might be abused to drastic effect. A person may just give up on his/her precious life just because of the pain the illness brought to him.
An important point to note, euthanasia is not a way to escape from troubles and pain, its seeking its own death, and seeking its own death is no diffenrence to commiting suicide, it's just a better term for suicidal act.
I beg to differ with Ying Jie's point too. Animal doesn't have the chance to choose whether to live or to be euthanaised.

I agree that Euthanasia should be legalized HOWEVER, it should only be proceeded on with the patient's consent. I do not consent the act of ending the patient's life by the say of someone else, even if it is someone blood related to the patient. In my perspective, it is MURDER. What gives you the right to end the patient's life? How do you know if the patient wants to die? Yes, patients suffering from terminal diseases may not have the ability to voice out what option do they want and they may be suffering in pain but let me reinforce my statement. "IS THAT WHAT THEY REALLY WANT? ARE THEY REALLY SUFFERING AS BADLY AS YOU THOUGHT THEY WOULD BE?"

With reference to what Yong Kang said, people may abuse Euthanasia. I agree with the statement. The world is cruel. People, even your close ones, may grant the death call to the patient to get sum of money from the will the patient left.

Euthanasia can be legalized, but only if the patient agrees.

In my opinion, Euthanasia should be legalised. I feel that everyone has their rights and freedom to choose whether they want to live or die. If one person is dying, and it does not help being on the life support, then that person's pain and suffering should not be lengthened. For those who are with financial problems, being on the life support only prolong the patients' pain and add on to the problems their family members have to face. Moreover, some cases can even drag over several years. It is definitely unfair for those who can opt for Euthanasia instead. Nobody wish to suffer in pain for nothing. Ultimately, it should be the people themselves deciding for their own lives, not the law.

Euthanasia has many pros and cons. I must agree that it is very useful for terminally illed patient looking for a way to end their miseries. However the cost of making euthanasia legalised is too big to pay and hence i feel that it should not be legalised.

We will look at the problem in different perspective starting from a political view. We live in a world of free right to believe in any religion. Most religious people believed that life are created by god and killing someone is against the will of god. They too believed that sufferings have a value. By making euthanasia legalised, the law is not taking care of these religious people.

In a ethical perspective, euthanasia weakens the society's respect for the sancity of life. By legalising euthanasia, we are accepting that lives of those who are disabled and illed are worth less than others. Euthanasia can also be a way for hospitals to free up their beds. In name, the patient made the choice to die, but in reality, the patient choice of treatment is greatly affected by doctor's recommendations. When a doctor say the best way is to die, patient opt to die, simple as that. It can also be a way to kill a family member to split the family asset.

Allowing euthanasia undermines the committment of doctors and nurses to saving lives as they can always use the easier and cheaper way. Euthanasia would become the cost effective way to treat terminally illed patient. This would discourage the search for new cures and treatments for the currently uncurable diseases. Not only these, allowing Euthanasia would also undermine the people to provide proper care and pain-relief for the dying. There is no proper way to regulate euthanasia. How can doctors determine whether a person is in the right state of mind when he want to be killed. The person may be undergoing stress and pressure when making the decision. The will to live fluctuates substantially in dying patient due to stress, anxiety, pain and their sense of well-being.

Doctors make all the decision to a patient's treatment and care. When euthanasia becomes legalised, doctor get a licence to kill. Although a patient have a right to choose what treatment they should get, their decision is greatly affected by doctor's recommendation. This would give doctors a power to judge the value of life.

What I feel is that proper
palliative care can make euthanasia obsolete. Although it is up to a person's freedom to choose whether to die or to live, euthanasia comes with many social problems. Euthanasia carries the possibility of being abused for gains(eg. killing your vegetable family member to split the asset). Ultimately, law is there to protect lives, not to end it.

i think that euthanasia should be legalised but under some circumferences. of couse people should be allowed to end the suffering they have to endure. but in this technology society, there may be a way to save them in the near future. Then, under such circumference, euthanasia will be a stupid way as people will give up their life for nothing. Hence, i think euthanasia is to be allowed as a last resort and people should not use it improperly. But of course under other circumferences, like the patient had been waiting for several years for any hope for recovery or the patient had been suffering overwhelming pain, then in such circumferences, euthanasia may be a good resort.

COMMENT ON CLASSMATE:

I disagree with what angeline had said. Death is easy. But people who had chosen euthanasia should think for their family as well. when you die, you will not feel anything. Yet people around you have to endure the pain of losing you. This does not matters the braveness of the patient to face death and the pain, but the feeling of the others.

I feel that euthanasia should be legalised as the patient might be suffering even though he or she is unable to speak up for themselves. Although the family might be able to afford the cost of putting the patient to a respirator, they should have gain permission from the patient's close ones or next-of-kin. In addition, whether should the hospital conduct euthanasia to the patient also lies on the decision of the family members of the patients.

With what Yuen Zheng have said, i agree that the patients were unable to voice out the choice they have in mind, however, disagree that ending the patient's life is a murder.

With the "unknown" decision made by the patient, doctors do not have the rights to make up the decision for them. Therefore, the only option is to consult the family members as they know the patient well enough and are able to make up the same decision with the patient.

With this, I disagree to the statement "Euthanasia should not be leagalised." and say that Euthanasia should be legalised with consent from that patient's close ones.

Euthanasia refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. Personally, I feel that euthanasia should be legalised. By doing so, family members will not be burdened by financial problems that are brought by the patient. These terminally-ill patients can also die in peace, without pain, which are most likely to be what they hope for. Also, their other body parts will not be damaged since their deaths are not prolonged, thus saving more lives if donated.

Cruelly, but surely, as to what Yong Kang has expressed, euthanasia can be abused. Money is the root of all evil. Man can sacriice what's dear to them for money. Therefore, whether euthanasia should be legallised or not is still a big question mark.

I feel that Euthanasia should be legalised. None of us wish to spend our life undergoing pain. Everyone should have the chance and freedom to choose what they want. It will be a torture for both the patient and his family members; the patient will only be a burden to the family. Euthanasia helps a person to die faster instead of having the patient to suffer.

I agree with Hui Shi that nobody wish to suffer in pain for nothing.

In the future, if euthanasia is legalised, it should be control by the government. Otherwise, there will be people abusing this method. Hence, I still think that euthanasia should be legalised.

Yes i agree that euthanasia could be preactised, but carefully and with consideration. Having to be euthanised can be of one's own accord or decided by family members, basically voluntary and involuntary euthanasia. I believe that voluntary euthanasia, although seems without much problems as one has his own rights to end one's life but, could voluntary euthanasia be abused to become suicidal? We all know that suicidal is against the law, the question is that if voluntary euthanasia would be abused? Also, involuntary euthanasia is decided by the family members. Yes they have the rights to stop a comatosed family member's life, but i actually believe that the decision lies with the comatosed in the end.
Hence i believe that euthanasia should be practised with serious consideration before anything is done. Voluntary euthanasia should also have one's family member's agreement before the decision is made to end one's life.
I disagree with Yuen zeng's statement. If one were to be comatosed, yes he would not be able to voice out their own opinions but how can his family members support him? Imagine if one of your family members were to become a vegetable, how would you support him/her? Your vitality would be drained after a period of time and not only that, your family would be in a state of financial diffiulty and everyone would be physically and mentally worn out. If euthanasia is illegal, wouldn't there be more and more people lying comatosed in the hospitals? How would the hospitals be able to accomodate them?

I agree that euthanasia should be legalised. Everyone should have their own rights to decide whether they want to live on or whether to let go of their lives, but in the correct way, which is not committing suicide. If one decides on his own will to be euthanised, it is voluntary euthanasia. But if he does not do it on his own will, it is involuntary euthanasia. A really sick person should have the rights to decide what he wants to do as dying without any pain is the most comfortable thing, instead of needing some machines or medicine to help you live on, which is some kind of torture. This would not be living, but instead it would be forced to live, which no one would like it. If the person is seriously ill, and euthanasia could be carried out, he should decide whether he wants it or not, as some people may have some unfinished business to see to or unfinished wishes, therefore should be given the chance to live longer.

If I were really ill one day and i know that there is no cure to my disease or nothing could help me, i would prefer euthanasia. Like this, I would not be a financial burden to my family, even if affordable, as i would just live on to be tortured on by the illness. Family would also not have to worry about how long i could live which is very worrisome and i could also go away in peace, instead of being seen tortured by the illness by my family.

Euthanasia refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. I do not agree that euthanasia should be legalised. I have always believed that is it sinful to take life away whether it is for good or for bad.

Many have said that it is painful and sad to live on after suffering from a terminal disease. However, some people may not feel it that way. Looking from another angle, if a person suffers from a terminal disease and he only has a short period of time to live, he will be able to spend this short period of time with his family before he leave this world. Would you introduce euthanasia to him? Even so he will definitely reject it. Spending time with his love ones may be the only thing he wants to do. With a strong will to live on, the pain will eventually be surmountable. They may just be happy to have you by their side.

Scientists all around the world are working extremely hard to come up with cures. If euthanasia is legalised, those who are taking time to come up with cures would be discouraged to do so. This means that medical development will plummet. The scientists’ perspective would simply be “Since they can choose to die, why are we working so hard? It will all be worthless.”

Greed and hatred is inalienable and that is why euthanasia can be abused. Sometimes those whom you treasure most wants you to die. It can be because they hate you or they want your assets. Euthanasia would be a good opening for them.

If someone is having difficulty in finance (to pay medical fees), it would mean they will have to work hard. It is like what Mr Razak said, “I care therefore I do”. I feel that if you truly care and love someone, no matter how hard it is you will endure. Euthanasia will not be necessary.

People have always been saying that death can never solve problems. Then why are people supporting euthanasia? Life is precious and not something to trifle with. I believe that whenever there is life there will be hope. There must be a goal in life and I feel that this goal in life is to persevere and live on.

After gathering all the information about Euthanasia, as well as many others, I disagree that Euthanasia should not be leagalised. People that suffered from terminal diseases will get to end their sufferings instead of enduring everything before they die. However, if a person was to be comatose or in too much pain to speak for himself, the person that is closest to him shall decide for him. He/she must then take at least one day, to make a decision. He/she should then think from many different angles, on whether should that person be euthanized. I believe that the closest kin of that person will make the best decision for the person being euthanized. They will be gratified to be able to end their torments.
In contrast to what benedict has said, Euthanasia might be abused to get one assets. However, the person with terminal disease will still die eventually, whether you euthanize him or not.

I believe most of us felt that Euthanasia should be legalised because most of us have a believe that everyone has the right to choose whether to live or die. However, most of us also didn't consider the consequences once Euthanasia is been legalised.

One very fine example is during the World War II when the Nazi Germany conducted a Euphemistically named "euthanasia program". The Nazi killers used the term "euthanasia" as a euphemism to CAMOUFLAGE their murder of human beings! and their aim? Not to shorten the lives of persons with painful terminal diseases but to kill human beings they felt inferior, who could have lived much longer.

Through the example above, we realised that Euthanasia had been abused for the murders of innocent beings and can be abused even more if it is to be legalised. Therefore, i totally oppose to the decision of Euthanasia being legalised.

Euthanasia, the practice of ending a life in a painless manner, is one of the choice to end a suffering person's life from further pain and torment. However, i find that Euthanasia of all types is morally unacceptable. Who gave us the right to deplete someone else's life? Who gave us the power to control the lifespan of another being? NO ONE! By conducting Euthanasia, it is as good as MURDER! Christians always say that human life belongs ultimately to God so by conducting Euthanasia, we are violating the sanctity of human life.

Many who have suffered from terminal diseases often said that it is painful and tormenting. However i believed that during that period of suffering, these people who suffered from terminal diseases will enjoy the best time in their lives. They will have family members caring for them every single minute and love pouring down from every possible angle. There is a often saying among people, "there's a will, there's a way". As long as the suffering patient has a strong will to live on, he/she will be abie to forget about the pain and sufferring.

From the view of Hui shi. I agree that everyone has their own rights and freedom to choose whether to live or die. However, before we make any decision leading to life or death, we must first of all think of the ones that care and love us. By taking away our lives to end one's sufferrings, we are causing pain to everyone around us. They will be grief-stricken.

ONE VERY LAST POINT, IF EUTHANASIA IS LEGALISED, THEN WHERE IS THE PRESERVERENCE WE USUALLY HAVE TO CARRY ON LIVING? IF EUTHANASIA IS LEGALISED, WON'T THERE BE AN EXTRA WAY TO COMMITTING SUICIDE? WON'T THERE BE MORE SUFFERRING IN THIS SMALL WORLD?

i think that euthanasia should be legalised. Seeing your own family member suffering from an incurable disease, it will bring pain to both you and the patient. i would rather end this suffering than to prolong it and euthanasia is the painless way to relieve this extreme pain.

Patient suffering from a terminally sickness is already bad enough but being a burden to his family would be even worse. With the current high medical cost, family members had to worry about their financial ability. i believe that no one would like the feeling of being burden of others for the rest of his life.

Contracting with this terminal illness, death is inevitable, it is only the matter of time. So would not it be a better to end this pain earlier than to prolong the suffering of both the patient and family memebers?

i agree with hongwei that euthanasia shoud only be perform after much consideration. Euthanasia should not be performed as a way of sucide and also before making the decision, there should be a agreement of both the patient and the family members.

In my opinion, euthanasia should not be legalized. Everyone has the right to choose to be alive or not. I would rather die than suffering from the pain. However, many people may want to die at this moment as they can not fight against the pain but continually changing their decisions as they want to live. I believe no one would want to die. Hence, euthanasia is dangerous if it is legalized. Even though, people might suffer from any illness, there are still some possibilities that they can survive. No matter how carefully those patients consider about this matter, their family members and friends will definitely regret letting the patient to die in this way; if a person is still living in this world there is still hope. Euthanasia is the same as commit suicide: taking away your own life. Therefore, if commit suicide is a crime then euthanasia will also be a crime too.

I agree that euthanasia should be legalised but it should not become a way people choose to use to commit suicide.
Everyone have their rights to decide whether to live or to die, especially for those people who know that there will be no cure for their illnesses. Many people would prefer dying in a painless manner instead of using machines to extend their life span. It is also very torturing for both patient and his family members as the patient will only become a burden to the family. Thus, euthanasia will be the best and only method for the families, especially those with low-income to end all the sufferings.

Euthanasia has been a long debated issue and many of us has many points of views. I personally agree that euthanasia is a good way to end ones miseries. But euthanasia could also be used in a corrupted way and defeats the purpose of life.

Life is full of trials and temptations, it is through all these that we learn lessons in life and mature. By administering euthanasia it may rob one's right to learn life lessons from the trials one is going through. Life is also sacred; I believe that we cannot override the life's journey.
Many religions are also against euthanasia as people believe that life is a gift given by God, God has a purpose for putting you in this world and wants you to fulfill it.

Euthanasia is a cowardly act we should take on what life has in store for us and overcome it with dignity. By legalizing euthanasia, greedy family members that are eyeing the person's assets may just be able to get what they want.

But if euthanasia is ever legalized i feel that the consent should not be given by the family members but by the patient. Even if the patient is not able to speak or is not even able to live without life support, he or she may also have dying wishes to fulfill and would die with regrets.

Overall I think that euthanasia is a cowardly act and defeats the value and purpose of life. I strongly oppose the Idea of euthanasia. We humans should live with pride and dignity

To me, Euthanasia is just a form of suicide. No matter what kind of advantage it brings, it is still a way of killing yourself. Therefore I do not agree with Euthanasia being legalised.
Yes, a lot of people might say that people have a choice of whether to live or die. But think of it another way. If everyone would have a choice to die peacefully, who wouldn't want it?
Do you ever wonder why some people does not want to suicide? It is because they are afraid of the pain they will experience when they suicide. If Euthanasia is to be legalised, more people would feel that suicide would be easier. Would you want that to happen?
Euthanasia could help ease the burden and pain of a patient with terminal illnesses. But that is what life is about! Experiencing pain and fighting with it is a part of what we are supposed to do. "Why do we fall? Because we could stand up." If we would have Euthanasia legalised, won't we lose our meaning of life?
Plus, I agree with the comments from Jia Wen and Benedict that the misuse of Euthanasia is inalienable. Even Subutex is being abused as a drug, who's to say that Euthanasia could not be abused?
Therefore, I do not agree that Euthanasia should be legalised. Sometimes we must not think of the advantages only, but also it's disadvantages. The consequences could be more catastrophic than what we think......

I think that enthanasia should be legalised as it is basic human rights that people should have.People should have the right to decided what they want to do with their lifes even ending it.Law should not be interfering with people's choice to die. Some people who have uncurable disease might want to end their sufferings by choosing enthanasia as another alternative to end their lifes instead of waiting for death and suffer during the process.Enthanasia can let people finish the last journey of their life in a peaceful way and family members can be ensured that their family member is happily and peacefully in another world.

Personally, I think that euthanasia should not be legalized. Life is precious and has its own course. We should not be taking life away so easily with such a sinful act.

If euthanasia is legalized, I am sure that there would be people misusing it. Just like what some of the other classmates had expressed, people might not be able to withstand the power of money and abuse euthanasia to get one's assets or what they want.

Yes, since we usually have the perseverance to carry on living, why not live till the end?

I agree with Peng Hian. Life includes experiencing the pain and we should continue to fight to the end. That is also the purpose and meaning of life.

Hence, euthanasia should not be legalized.

Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. I strongly feel that euthanasia should be legalized. Everyone has the rights over their life and fate. Thus when one choose to end its life earlier by using euthanasia, let him be! He is definitely not being cowardice as he is brave enough to choose death from alive. However, euthanasia should only be conducted with self-consent. NO ONE other than yourself have the rights to end your life. Not even your dearest kin! Even in the situation of one having terminal illness, euthanasia should only be used under the patient’s consent. The patient’s family should only be there to support him and not to choose to end his life for him, thinking that it might be a better choice. It’s definitely not a better choice! What if the patient wants to hang on?

Next, I disagree with Tze ying’s opinion. Yes, life is precious and has its own course. But when one doesn’t even have the urge to live on, why not just end it? At least it’s a better way for them than struggling on with life.

I agree that euthanasia should not be legalised. God had made us to live in this world is not for us to die or give up because of some trivial matters though people have their own choice of deciding whether to live or not. Moreover, if euthanasia is legalised, many people will have misused it as who would not want to die without pain? This easy way of killing oneself also encouraged people to die. Furthermore, patients with serious illnesses or not will not have the willpower to continue to live in this practical and ruthless world. I believe that people would want to end their lives earlier if euthanasia is legalized as it is very tired and tough to live in a world filled with people of all kinds -the insidious type, despicable type, detestable type, dubious type and many more. Also, people will use this method to help them to reach their target. Especially the rich people, they might use this to kill someone else in order to get their assets. There will also have more crimes committed, People might use this as one of their method to kill others. But since its legalized, it will not consider as a crime and the society will soon become a disaster. Hence, i strongly agree that euthanasia should NOT be legalised. We should live life till the last breath. We should not give up easily. Though there are times when we are lost, we must stay optimistic and live life to the fullest.

Euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in a painless method. It is quite contradicting whether it should be legalised due to the pro and cons mattering alot with different perspectives of people. But I agree so that euthanasia should not be legalised.
Everyone should go through the life cycle of birth, aging, sickness and death. It would be unfair if it was used on a person that is unable to decide and the person may actually perservere on to life but yet had to encounter euthanasia against his will. Furthermore, euthanasia may actually be misused by people to kill others. Despite a dying person, euthanasia should be used only in circumstances where it is decided by the own person as human rights are involved in it as it is considered as a form of 'killing' as it is the end of a life.If it was legalised, I cannot imagine of how it would harm many innocent people. Therefore, euthanasia really should not be legalised as it is a matter of life and death. Everyone should treasure their lives and others despite any troubles.Living life to the fullest would live one no regrets.

I agree so with Shan Shan's opinion that euthanasia should not be legalised. With fame and wealth being sought after by many, lives are considered easy to sacrifice to reach the objectives for survival and much more in the society.

It is Jun Teck here!
Euthanasia is to kill someone when they are unconscious without feeling any pain. This skill has been practiced on both animals and human. We cannot say that it is a must to be legalized or not, but it must be use when the family is unable to support the patient with the medical services financially.

I think that Euthanasia should be legalized but only with consent of the patient unless in extreme condition.

Extreme situation will be such as the financial of the family doesn’t allow prolonging the patient life or the patient became a vegetable without much chance of waking up.

For humans, I believe that to practice Euthanasia, we must get the consent of the patient. We must get the consent of the patient as different people have different way of thinking, so do pets. But no technology allow us to know what unconscious patients or pets are think, that is when the deciding vote lands on the hands of the family members of the patient and the owner of the pet. Some patient may think that they will endure the pain just to enjoy for a few more days or months of life, some will prefer to die painlessly instead of enduring pain.

Euthanasia on someone without his or her consent will be equivalent to murder as both means killing without the guys consent. Hence, Euthanasia must only be practice with the consent of the patient. But different ideology may bring up conflict of many people. This further emphasize that Euthanasia must only be practice with the consent of the patient.

From Christopher’s comment, he said that Euthanasia is an act of cowards. But I do not agree completely, who will ever have the courage to end their life when there is still so many things that they want to do. Although some have suicide due to debts or other difficulties and I agree that they are cowards as forgotten how the lives of their family members will be affected after he died. But in the case of once a healthy and living happily man who fell very sick one day suddenly. He will never be able to live without depending on a machine to prolong his life for the most a year. Although he may choose to continue to living for the next few months, but he will be in prolong pain and will add on burden to the family due to the large medical fees. It will be very brave of him to end his own life even though there are still many things he wanted to do as he do not want to cause the family anymore burden. Hence, I think that Euthanasia is not an act of cowards.

To conclude, Euthanasia should be legalized but only with consent of the patient unless in extreme condition.

Euthanasia refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. I personnally think that to practive euthanasim is fine but to an extend that one is willingly. Euthanasia usually occurs to people as well as animals who have contracted serious terminal diseases such as cancer or other viruses. This kind of act should be of voluntary which means to be willing.

I would like to comment on yuen zeng's comment. I agree with his point of view that euthanasia may seemed as murder in the society especially in this era. The world has turns curel and even more unfair. This would be an disadvantage to patients as they couldn't fight for what they want. They no longer have a choice, its up to their family members if they would give them a death sentence or not. Hence, euthanasia should not be legalized yet as they are still uncertainties and problems to it.

This is Yong Da, using Jun Teck's account.
I agree that euthanasia should be legalized.Euthanasia which is called mercy killing. the act of putting to death painlessly or allowing to die, as by withholding extreme Everyone has their own right to control their own life, not anyone else. The right to die with dignity is open for debate, however who is the judge to decide how long a person should live? Allowing euthanasia undermines the committment of doctors and nurses to saving lives as they can always use the easier and cheaper way. Euthanasia would become the cost effective way to treat terminally illed patient. This would discourage the search for new cures and treatments for the currently incurable diseases. I disagree to the statement "Euthanasia should not be legalized." and say that Euthanasia should be legalized with consent from that patient's close ones.

Euthanasia must only be conducted with a person consent. We cannot simply take away a person life just as we deem fit,if not we will be liable as murderers. As for the controversy of whether euthanasia should legalised,it's entirely up to each person views over it.

If we insisted that a person who had contracted terminal diseases should perform euthanasia to save him from the torment,we are just judging it based on our own point of view. Maybe we should seek the patient's personal opinion, and from there decide if we should perform euthanasia for him.

Why would a person wants to struggle for survival? Maybe he has a loved one who he can't bear to leave yet or there is a certain task that he wishes to accomplish before his time is up. After all, everyone has their own rights to choose the way they lived.

I agree with classmates that stated that euthanasia should be legalised as everybody has their own rights to live on or go instead of passing this right to someone. Not everyone will have the same point of view. Likewise, what one think may differ from self. Some may think that euthanasia is the best way out, however, not everyone agrees. Thus, it is important to only perform euthanasia with the patient's consent, not the doctors or his/her family.
